Painting is my obsession. It is not only when the brush hits the canvas, it is really more consuming than that. I study color all day, when I am at the beach with my family, running or watching tv. When my head hits the pillow and my eyes close, images and colors flood my thoughts. As a mother it is most important to me to teach my children by example to follow their hearts. Life is a challenging journey and we should reward ourselves with happiness, my happy reward is painting. Every morning when I walk into my daughters room she looks up at me and smiles, it is my job to make sure she never stops. Oil paints allow me to create the colors that evoke my senses and take me back to that special place I saw earlier in the day. They are rich and can be smooth as butter. Mixing and marrying of colors is a wonderful challenge that I am sure will never get any easier. I love color and the affect it has on our moods, which ultimately is a factor to our happiness. I have found that my most important tool in painting is not a brush or palette knife but to paint with the absence of doubt. As long as I leave doubt behind I will grow as an artist.
